COACHES CORNER
Head coach Peter Bartlett:
"Our thoughts are to see if we can get the nerves going as we get into a match situation, so we are excited to kind of get the competitive juices back again. We are a little bit injured right now, so I think it is going to be trying to get the best players we have for the match and approach it in a consistent manner. We want to start the season with the principles we have been talking about throughout the fall, trying to get out, get the energy up and put the best players we can out on the court. We need to take advantage of our first match and everyone is excited about it."
Thoughts on Dominican:
"We've never played them before, so we don't really know what to expect, but the head coach there is our former assistant coach for the women's side — Cristina Visico — which one reason why we are playing them. On paper, we are suppose to be the stronger team, but we don't want to take that for granted so we are preparing our girls for a really strong match against them."
USF HISTORY
The Dons dropped their season opener last year against Sacramento State, but USF will look to get the 2018 spring season off to a strong start. The game this Friday will be the season opener for both USF and Dominican. This will also be the first meeting between the two schools.
UP NEXT
The Dons will take a break until Saturday, Feb. 3 when they head down south to face UC Santa Barbara. This will be the Dons first away test of the spring season for USF and is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.
