In this Tuesday Testimonial, the current women of USF Athletics reflect on the legacy forged by those who came before them. Those pioneers on the court and in the classroom who dared for more; for themselves, their teammates and the University of San Francisco.
The women presently donning the Green and Gold respect the work, grit, determination, and the inspiration and opportunities these trailblazers passed on to future generations. With a message of thanks and gratitude, USF's athletes look back on the legacy of those who built the program to where it is today.
This rise to the top, and pursuit to go even further, has been on display all season with peeks into the historical journey on what the 37 words of Title IX mean to all who have competed for the Dons. From current and former administrators, to coaches and student-athletes a multitude of women who have spent time on the Hilltop have reflected on their journey through a series of
Tuesday Testimonial webisodes, available on-demand.
The culmination of those reflections nears, as Emmy-winning producer
Katie Morgan presents "The Rise: 45 Years of Female Greatness and Beyond," a one-hour documentary premiering first on USF's
YouTube and
Facebook channels on Thursday, Feb. 1, the day USF celebrates
National Girls and Women in Sports Day.
The Dons will be honoring the athletic accomplishments of USF female athletes as well as Koret's intramural teams. Female athletes from USF Athletics will be signing autographs and talking with kids after the game, and clips of "The Rise" will be played throughout the 7 p.m. USF women's basketball game versus Saint Mary's. The feature will also make its cable television debut on NBC Sports California on Feb. 3 at 10 p.m., following the men's basketball game between the Dons and Broncos in Santa Clara.
