MORAGA, CA — The University of San Francisco's women's tennis team made a statement at the Saint Mary's Invitational this past weekend. Freshman Rita Colyer showed a great performance as she took her singles play to the final round.

DAY ONE
Day one of the Invitational was a success for the Dons as they advanced four singles, a doubles duo and a mixed team to the next round of action. Hanna Borjeson, Emily Maxfield, Mya Bui competed in singles A and Rita Colyer in singles B all dominated each of their opponents. Borjeson, Maxfield and Bui defeated their opponents in straight sets as Borjeson took on Sacramento State's Jayden Nielsen, 6-2, 6-4, Maxfield beat Saint Mary's College's Aubane Ville, 6-4, 6-2 and Mya Bui took down Academy of Art's Kiara Thell-Lenntorp, 6-1, 6-3. Colyer escaped with a 5-7, 6-3, 7-5 victory over University of the Pacific's Anna Ramos Vinoleas.

The dynamic duo, Hanna Borjeson and Rita Colyer cruised past Sonoma State University's Clarissa Colling and Jenna DeTurk, 8-7(5) in 16s. The mixed team of Amber Del Rosario and Sacramento State's Sofia Wicker defeated Academy of Art's Sofia Ragona and Mariacristina Andrisani, 8-6.

DAY TWO 
Hanna Borjeson took her singles play to the quarterfinal round after Saint Mary's Mariia Kozyreva retired for Borjeson's automatic victory. In quarterfinals Borjeson then fell in close sets to University of Washington's Anna Makarova, 6-1, 6-2. Emily Maxfield was not able to get past Stanford's Sara Choy, falling 7-6(4), 6-4. Mya Bui defeated Santa Clara's Maddie Pothoff, 6-1, 6-3 in 16s and later fell to Saint Mary's Chloe Goyette, 7-5, 6-1. 

Colyer defeated Sonoma State's Jenna DeTurk in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2 in 16s, later facing California's Jasie Dunk in quarterfinals beating Dunk, 6-1, 6-2. Colyer's dominating performance took her to semifinals as she took on Saint Mary's Liesi Pieters in a tough 7-5, 6-7(3), 7-6(3) victory.

DAY THREE
Colyer dominated in all facets of singles play in all days of the tournament, but fell in a long fought battle to San Jose State's Alba Pedrero Galindo, 6-2, 2-6, 6-3. 

In extra doubles play, Amber Del Rosario and Sacramento State's Sofia Wicker defeated Stanford's Naomie Rosenberg and Elizabeth Yao, 8-4.
