MEN'S RESULTS
MADISON, Wis. — San Francisco men's cross country senior Jack Rowe ran the final cross country race of his collegiate career Saturday in style, grabbing a top-100 finish at the 2018 NCAA Cross Country Championship on the Thomas Zimmer Championship Course.
Rowe finished 83rd among a field of more than 250 of the country's best runners, posting a time of 30 minutes, 29.9 seconds across the 10-kilometer course. His pace Saturday (4:54.7 per mile) was more than a second faster than his pace on the same course back on Oct. 13, when he ran 4:55.9 across 8 km – more than a mile shorter than Saturday's championship course.
Rowe was within five seconds of the leaders through the 2-kilometer mark, then stayed put through the 6 km and 8 km marks before settling into the top-100 across the finish line. Rowe defeated fellow West Coast Conference runners Noah Schutte of Portland (124th) and Koby Pederson of Loyola Marymount (127th).
Now the outdoor track season awaits Rowe and the Dons. The men's first outdoor meet is scheduled for March 15 at Sacramento State's Hornet Invitational. The women's indoor track season begins on Dec. 8 in Pittsburg, Kan., at Pittsburg State's Crimson and Gold Invitational.
