MGOLF | Three Dons Earn All-Conference Honors

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Three members of the University of San Francisco men's golf team took home all-conference honors as announced by the West Coast Conference on Monday. Junior Tim Widing earned first team accolades while Soren Lind and Christoffer Palsson earned honorable mention honors.

For Widing, this marks the third straight year he has earned First Team All-Conference honors.  The native of Jonkoping, Sweden becomes just the third player in USF history to earn first team honors in three-straight years.  He joins Ji Hwan Park (2010-12) and Sebastian Crookall-Nixon (2014-16) as the only players to achieve this feat.

The junior leads USF with an average score of 71.6 this season.  He boasts 17 rounds of par or better this year and has carded 113 birdies and has six top-10 finishes.  At the WCC Championships this weekend, finished tied for third with a 4-under 213, his third place finish is tied for a personal-best at the WCC Tournament.

For Lind, the Honorable Mention honors are the first all-conference honors for the sophomore from Odder, Denmark.  Lind has an average round score of 72.1 this season with 12 rounds of par or better.  He also tallied 96 birdies and an eagle.  He has eight top-20 finishes this season, including three in the top-10.  He opened the year taking second at the Inverness Intercollegiate.  At the Visit Stockton Invitational, he finished with a season-best 11-under 205, recording 15 birdies for the tournament.  At the WCC Championship last weekend he finished tied for 18th with a 1-over 217.

Palsson burst on to the scene for the Dons this season.  The Helsingborg, Sweden native opened his career with an 8-under 208 at the Mackenzie Invitational carding 14 birdies. For the year, he boasts an average round score of 73.7 with nine rounds of par or better and 78 birdies with an eagle.  At the WCC Championship he was fantastic, finishing at a tie for third with teammate Tim Widing.  He opened the tournament with a 5-under 67 and finished with a 4-under 212, his third tournament under par.

The three all-conference winners for USF are the most since 2014 when the Dons' Cory McElyea, Jobim Carlos, and Crookall-Nixon earned first team honors.

On Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. PST the Dons will find out their postseason fate when the NCAA Selection show for the regionals will be televised live on the Golf Channel.
