WTEN | Five Dons Earn All-Academic Honors

SAN BRUNO, Calif. The University of San Francisco women's tennis team had five players named to the West Coast Conference All-Academic team as announced by the conference on Tuesday. Margarita Treyes earned first team honors followed by Hanna Borjeson, Mya Bui, Amber Del Rosario and Shanna Dos Santos who earned Honorable Mention accolades. 

To qualify, a student-athlete must be of at least sophomore standing, own a minimum 3.20 grade point average while also being a significant contributor to her team.

Treyes wrapped up her collegiate tennis career with earning first team all-academic honors. The senior with an outstanding 3.97 cumulative grade point average majors in Business Administration. This season, Treyes went 7-12 overall in singles competition and led the Dons' to four key victories as she clinched matches against UC Davis, Sacramento State, Louisiana Lafayette and Nevada. 

Borjeson, a finance major with a 3.58 cumulative GPA, earns Honorable Mention for the first time in her collegiate career. The senior appeared in 17 matchups and completed the season with a 5-7 singles record and 4-7 doubles record. She collected doubles wins against Sacramento State, Utah State, Pacific, BYU, and singles victories against Fresno State, Long Beach State, Nevada, and Pacific. 

For Santos, this is her second time on the Honorable Mention list. The senior from Orlando, Fl, sports a 3.52 cumulative GPA as a Business Administration major. Santos made appearances in all 21 matchups and finished the season with a 3-11 singles record and 4-10 doubles record.

Sophomore, Bui earns her first Honorable Mention accolade as a Don. The Business Administration, Entrepreneurship & Innovation major boasts a cumulative GPA of 3.74. Bui was a main contributor for the Dons this season after appearing in all 21 games and was second on the team with a 9-10 singles record and led the team with a 7-10 doubles record both at No. 1. 

Rosario also earns Honorable Mention for the first time in her career with a 3.24 cumulative GPA. The Environmental Science major appeared in 11 matchups and closed out the season with a 6-7 singles record and 1-1 doubles record. 

San Francisco concluded the 2019 season with an overall 8-13 record and went 1-8 in conference play.
