SAN BRUNO, Calif. – The University of San Francisco men's golf team had three members take home West Coast Conference All-Academic honors as announced by the conference office on Friday. Earning the honors are junior
Tim Widing and sophomores
Alex Chin and
Soren Lind.
Widing, an International Business major boasts a 3.57 GPA. This is the second all-academic honor for the three-time First Team All-WCC honoree. Widing led USF with an average score of 71.6 this season which was eighth best in the WCC. He boasts 17 rounds of par or better this year and has carded 113 birdies and has six top-10 finishes. At the WCC Championships this weekend, finished tied for third with a 4-under 213, his third place finish is tied for a personal-best at the WCC Tournament. He will represent USF at the NCAA Regionals May 13-15 in Pullman, Wash.
For Lind and Chin this is the first time they are eligible to be on the All-Academic Team. Chin is a Finance major with a 3.83 GPA, he played in eight matches for the Dons this year and sported a stroke average of 74.14 which was fourth on the team. At The Goodwin he took 29
th carding a 4-under 66 in the final round.
Lind an Economics major has a 3.85 GPA. He played in all 10 matches en route to earning All-WCC Honorable Mention honors. He finished the year with an average round score of 72.1 with 12 rounds of par or better. He also tallied 96 birdies and an eagle. He has eight top-20 finishes this season, including three in the top-10. He opened the year taking second at the Inverness Intercollegiate. At the Visit Stockton Invitational, he finished with a season-best 11-under 205, recording 15 birdies for the tournament. At the WCC Championship last weekend he finished tied for 18
th with a 1-over 217.
To be considered for the team, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore, a significant contributor to her team and maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.20.
