SAN BRUNO, Calif. – The West Coast Conference announced its men's golf preseason coach's poll on Thursday and University of San Francisco stalwart Tim Widing has been named to the preseason team. The Dons were picked to finish fourth in the poll.  
 
A native of Jonkoping, Sweden, he has already left his mark on the USF record book. Heading into his senior campaign the two-time All-West Region honoree is one of three players in program history to earn First Team All-WCC honors in three-straight years.
 
Last season, Widing finished the year with 18 rounds at par or better and carded 127 birdies with seven top-10 finishes – all of which led the Dons. He's already off to a strong start in 2019-20. At the Carpet Capital Intercollegiate two weeks ago, Widing climbed 17 spots on the leaderboard on the final day to finish tied for 25th.
 
Pepperdine was picked to defend its team title, taking home eight first place votes in the coaches' poll.  BYU took home the final first place vote, Saint Mary's was picked to finish third with 48 points, followed by the Dons at fourth with 45. USF boasts a talented core that returns every player from last year's team that finished second at the WCC Championships last year.
 
The Dons will return to action on Sunday, Oct. 6, when they travel to Maridoe Golf Club for the Maridoe Intercollegiate hosted by North Texas.
