BERKELEY, Calif. — The University of San Francisco women's tennis team wrapped up the Cal Fall Invitational Sunday with consolation wins.
"The Dons battled through three days of matches at the Cal Invitational," said assistant head coach Sean Dizon. "We had a lot of good results throughout the tournament. We are growing from all these experiences individually as players and as a team."
Chiho Mushika and her doubles partner Mya Bui set the tone for the Dons as they won the ITA Blue doubles consolations final draw, with their opponents, Katya Tabachnik and Madison Clarke of USC, withdrawing due to injury.
The round robin doubles round had another USF win as pair Emily Maxfield and Arianna Capogrosso won their match, 8-1, versus Ege Torrey and Megan Tagaloa from Sacramento State.
In singles, Mushika was back on the court as she breezed through the ITA Gold singles consolations semifinals with a 4-6, 6-3, 1-0(2) win over Taylor Gruber from Gonzaga. In the final round, Mushika defeated her opponent, UC Davis' Yana Gurevich, 2-6, 7-6(4), 1-0(9), taking the consolation draw.
