SAN FRANCISCO - The University of San Francisco women's tennis team will be on the road this weekend and is set to face Sacramento State on Saturday, February 1.
"The Dons have been doing a great job since our last match and have been focusing on some of the skills that we can improve on," said head coach
Peter Bartlett. "Sacramento State always fields top flight teams so we are looking forward to the challenge of playing them at their place on Saturday. It's always motivating to play against some of the local competitive programs to give us an idea of where we fit. We look forward to a hard fought match."
LAST TIME OUT
Last weekend against UC Santa Barbara, the Dons didn't get off to a great start after dropping the doubles point. Doubles after pairs
Emily Maxfield and
Mya Bui, and
Rita Colyer and
Arianna Capogrosso fell on their courts 0-6. The last Dons pair still battling on the court was
Chiho Mushika and
Alicia Yue, but they ultimately fell 5-7 and UCSB was up 1-0 going into singles.
The Gauchos took their lead to 3-0 in singles when Yue (1-6, 2-6) and Bui (1-6, 1-6) dropped their matches. Mushika got USF on the board with a 1-6, 6-3, 6-4 match win. Maxfield also put up a 2-6, 6-2, 7-5 win, but the Dons dropped the rest of the matches and USF fell 2-5.
