Tim Widing was named to the 2020 Ping All-American Honorable Mention team, as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America on April 23. Widing is believed to be the first USF All-American since 1993 when Todd Fischer earned Second Team All-American honors.
Widing, who has 19 career top-10 finishes in his brilliant career, recorded three top-10 finishes in six events in 2019-20. The native of Jonkoping, Sweden was named to the Ping All-West Region Team for the third time in his career earlier in the month.
For the year, Widing led the Dons with a 72.3 stroke average. His three top-10 finishes culminated eith an individual championship at the Lamkin Grips San Diego Classic – his second- career tournament championship. In 18 rounds played this year, he finished at or below par 11 times.
Widing also led the Dons with 64 birdies and four eagles on the year. No eagle was bigger than the memorable one on the 18
th hole in the third round of the Orange Country Collegiate Classic, which sealed the win for the Dons.
