SAN BRUNO, Calif. – The University of San Francisco beach volleyball team had three players earn WCC All-Academic Honorable Mention honors as announced by the conference office on Thursday. Shannon Levison,
Katie Wagstaff, and
Emily Zinger all earned the academic recognition.
This is Levinson's first all-academic award. The senior management major boasts a 3.37 cumulative GPA. She competed in every match of the shortened 2020 season, playing primarily in the 3s spot with partner Ella Reams. Levinson went 2-5 on the year with crucial wins over Sacramento State and CSUN.
This is the first time Wagstaff has been eligible for the award. The management major sports a 3.44 GPA. This season she went 2-5 playing in the 4s and 5s spot, collecting wins over Sacramento State and CSUN.
Zinger earns her second all-academic honors. The Kinesiology major finished with a 3.49 GPA and was 1-7, playing in the 2s spot with
Lauren Speckman. The duo earned a win over Sacramento State. Their most impressive outing came early in the year when they took the pair from No. 15 Arizona and No. 20 Arizona State to three sets. Zinger was also named to the Honorable Mention team in 2019.
To be considered for All-Academic honors, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average, while also being a significant contributor to their team.
