Spotlight | Tim Widing’s Impact

SAN FRANCISCO – The University of San Francisco men's golf program has a rich and storied history. The Dons' boast 11 WCC Championships - second most in the West Coast Conference -  11 WCC Individual Champions, and players who have gone on to play in the PGA Tour. Among all the successful golfers that have played on the Hilltop, few might be as talented as graduate student Tim Widing.

Widing recently announced his return for a fifth season of eligibility, granted by the NCAA due to the COVID-19 epidemic. He is one of two All-Americans in USF history, has earned all-region honors three times in his career, and, following his junior campaign, became just the third player in USF history to be a three-time All-WCC First Team honoree.

Following an individual championship at the Lampkin Grips Invitational, a tournament in which he posted 17 birdies, he was well on his way to earning first team honors an unpresented fourth time before the COVID-19 pandemic struck. In the end, he still took home Ping All-American Honorable Mention honors.

In this video by Director of Creative Video, Katie Morgan sits down with head coach Jack Kennedy and Widing to briefly discuss Widing's impact on the program, what sets him apart from other players, and why he chose to come back for a fifth and final season.
