
MXC | Three Earn WCC All-Academic

SAN MATEO, Calif. – Three members of the University of San Francisco men's cross country team earned West Coast Conference All-Academic honors as announced by the conference office on Thursday afternoon.
Sophomore Caleb Haugland earned first team honors, while teammates Jacob Hernandez and Daniel Maneloveg garnered honorable mention accolades.
To qualify, a student-athlete must be of at least sophomore standing, own a minimum 3.20 grade point average and be a starter or an important reserve, having participated in at least 50% of the institution's completed contests.
This is the first time Haugland was eligible for the award. The finance major boasts an impressive 3.93 GPA. He appeared in both races for the Dons in the spring season, finishing third for the Dons and 24th overall at the Oregon XC Invite, clocking in with a personal-best time of 25:40.3. He also finished third for the Dons at the WCC Championships.
This is the second time Maneloveg and Hernandez have taken home honorable mention honors. They also earned this distinction following the 2019 season.
Hernandez, an environmental science major has a 3.54 GPA. Last year he finished fourth for USF in both races. At the Oregon XC Invite he finished 24th overall with a season-best time of 25:42.3. He took 48th at the WCC Championships as well.
Maneloveg, a politics major with a 3.42 GPA, was USF's top finisher in both races last season. He opened the year with an 11th finish at the Oregon XC Invite with a time of 24:50.0, a personal-best at the time. His next race out, he topped that crossing the finish line at the WCC Championships with a time of 24:44.0, which was good enough for 28th.
As a team, the men's cross country team finished the fall semester with a team GPA of 3.67. 10 student-athletes had a 3.0 or higher with a further seven Dons boasting a 3.5 of higher. Maneloveg was joined by sophomore Hiruy Alemseged with perfect 4.0s.
