
WXC | Five Dons Earn WCC All-Academic Honors

SAN MATEO, Calif. – Five members of the University of San Francisco women's cross country team earned West Coast Conference All-Academic honors as announced by the conference office on Thursday morning.
McKenzie Yanek and Eve Jensen earned first team honors, while teammates Abby Pradere, Sophie Soefeldt, and Anna Tait took home honorable mention distinction.
To qualify, a student-athlete must be of at least sophomore standing, own a minimum 3.20 grade point average and be a starter or an important reserve, having participated in at least 50% of the institution's completed contests.
Yanek, a psychology major with a 3.72 GPA, had a tremendous. The newcomer led the Dons in all three races this spring, including a fourth place finish at the WCC Championships to earn All-WCC honors. She captured 78th at the NCAA Championships after a tremendous second half of the race. In her debut at USF, she took third at the Oregon XC Invite.
Joining Yanek on the first team is sophomore Eve Jensen. The kinesiology major boasts a 3.63 GPA and earned first team honors in her first year eligible. The native of Boise, Idaho finished the year with two top-10 finishes, including a ninth place finish at the WCC Championships.
Pradere, a sophomore from Carson City, Nev., is an environmental science major with a 3.82 GPA. She competed in all three races for the Dons, captured 24th at the Oregon XC Invite in her first race of the season, and finished 19th at the WCC Championships.
Sophie Soefeldt is an undeclared sciences major with a 3.87 GPA. She competed in two races for the Dons this spring. Her best finish came at the Oregon XC Invite where she captured 25th.
Anna Tait is in USF's nonprofit graduate program and posted a 3.89 GPA. She also competed in three races for the Dons in 2020-21; her top finish came at the Oregon XC Invite, where she took 14th.
The women's cross country team had a tremendous fall in the classroom, earning a 3.70 team GPA. Ever member of the team finished with a GPA north of 3.0. 13 student-athletes earned a GPA of 3.5 or higher, with Fian Sullivan-Sweeney earning a perfect 4.0 in the fall.
