CARMEL, Calif. – Closing out their fall season at one of the most picturesque courses in the country, the University of San Francisco men's golf team tied for ninth overall in a strong field at the Cal Poly Invitational on Monday and Tuesday.
TOURNAMENT RESULTS:
- Capping off his final fall season as a Don, Matthew Anderson recorded his third consecutive top 25 finish by placing tied for twenty-third with a three-round total of 1-over-217 (74, 69, 74). Overall, it was also Anderson's fourth individual finish in the top 25 this semester as the graduate student has been a steady leader for the green and gold.
- Just a few spots behind, Jackson Rothwell tied for twenty-seventh overall by shooting a 2-over-218 (72, 72, 74) across the two days in Carmel. Notably, this performance marked the second top thirty finish of the fall for the freshman from Toronto.
- Close to the top two for USF, Ben Partridge tied for thirty-second overall with a 3-over-219 (71, 72, 76) while Harry Brown tied for thirty-ninth overall with a 4-over-220 (72, 71, 75).
- Rounding out the lineup, Jakob Melin tied for fifty-eighth overall with a 10-over-226 (76, 75, 75).
- Impressively, Anderson finished with the third-most pars in the tournament (37) while Brown tallied the third-most birdies (15) overall. Additionally, Anderson sunk an eagle for USF.
UP NEXT:
USF will take the new few months to regroup as the Dons will not compete again until the spring semester. The full 2023 spring schedule will be released in the coming weeks.
