STILLWATER, Okla. -- Wrapping up the 2022 collegiate cross country season, Dons junior Ruby Smee was in action Saturday morning at the 2022 NCAA Cross Country National Championships competing in the 6,000 meter run for the second consecutive season.

Smee concluded another tremendous season on the Hilltop by finishing 58th overall with a time of 20:21.5 on Saturday morning racing against the best runners across the nation. Ruby's season included being named the WCC's Runner of the Week after her tremendous performance at the USF Invitational, and she was able to win the Bronco Invitational for the second year in a row. 

"Ruby had to really dig today after a less than ideal start," USF head cross country coach Tim Riley said. "She moved through the field very well starting in the 136th at the 1,000 meter mark and finishing 58th overall. It was very impressive and she just needed a bit more runway to get into the top 40 to be an All-American for the second year in a row. I'm really happy with where she is at in her development, and looking forward towards indoor season come January." 

The Dons women's cross country program wrapped up a strong fall last weekend at the WCC Championships where the group finished second in the conference and included five USF runners finishing in the top 20.
