SAVANNAH, Ga. – Tim Widing, a 2020 graduate of USF and four-time All-WCC Selection, officially qualified for the Korn Ferry Tour after a battle all week at the Q-School Finals.
Piecing together one of the best performances of his young professional career, Widing impressed with an incredible back nine 32 (-4) as he fired a 65-74-73-68 (280) to tie for twenty-ninth overall at Landings Club-Marshwood Course in Savannah, Georgia.
On his final day, the Swede shot 3-under-68 while tallying five birdies to climb 28 spots on the leaderboard and qualify for the tour.
The Korn Ferry Tour is a developmental tour for the PGA Tour as it features golfers who have not yet reached the PGA Tour. For those who finish in the top 25 of the money list at year's end, each individual is given PGA Tour memberships for the next season. For Widing, he has earned eight guaranteed starts.
Since 2013, the Korn Ferry Tour has been the primary pathway for those who are seeking to earn their PGA Tour card. Q-School, which has previously been the top option for qualification to the PGA Tour, has been converted as an entryway to the PGA Tour.
This year, Widing has also played in all twelve PGA Tour Latinoamerica tournaments, making it to the weekend nine times and recording one top ten finish. Notably, he completed his year ranked No. 33 in the Totalplay Cup standings to keep his privileges for 2023.
