Men's Golf Finalizes 2023 Signing Class

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - Head Coach Jack Kennedy and the University of San Francisco men's golf program have completed their 2023 signing class with the commitment of Svante Palmgren of Gothenburg, Sweden.

"We are very excited to have Svante join the Dons family," said head coach Jack Kennedy. "He has proven himself to be a very talented golfer in major junior events. He has even had success teeing it up with the pros. Svante's maturity and experience give him a great chance to have an immediate impact for our program in 2023."

As one of the top golfers for the 2023 class in Sweden, Svante will come to the Hilltop after studying at the Swedish National Sports High School, RIG Helsingborg. Notable alumni from this institution include World Amateur #1, Ludvig Åberg.

Recently, Palmgren has taken his game to another level in his summer/fall circuit by starting with two top 20 finishes at the Fjallbacka Open (71-67-67) and the Hovas Open (73-70-75), both which were pro events. Enjoying success against some of the best in Scandinavia, his talent truly went on display at the junior circuit with a runner-up finish in the Swedish Teen Tour Elite #5 (67-70-71) followed by back-to-back wins at the Falkenberg Junior Open (74-71) and Junior Masters Invitational (69-66-70), which all came within a month. To put a final exclamation point on the year, the Swede would battle through the final stage of the Nordic Golf League Q-School, professional tour, firing a final round 65 (-6) to move up 35 spots and finish tied for eighth to earn status on the circuit for next year.
