Women's Tennis Drops Afternoon Match Against Waves

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. -- Battling cold and windy conditions in the Bay Area, the USF Dons women's tennis team (8-6, 1-2) battled hard but couldn't get it done against the Pepperdine Waves as they lost 4-0 on Monday afternoon.

Due to the weather, both teams agreed to play a clinch format that bypassed doubles play and went  first team to four points through singles matches would win.

RESULTS:
(PEP) Fukuda def. (USF) Martinez Vaquero (6-2, 6-0)
(PEP) Zaar vs. (USF) Mushika (6-3, 5-2)
(PEP) Puchkalerq def. (USF) Chhabra (7-5, 6-1)
(PEP) Brodaus def. (USF) Courtney (6-0, 6-0)
(PEP) Flores vs. (USF) Colyer (6-4, 2-4)
(PEP) Redejilila vs (USF) Gamracy (6-1, 6-3)

CATCHING UP WITH COACH BARTLETT:
"Today was a tough match versus a really good team in Pepperdine. We competed hard against them but in the end they had too much fire power. It's tough because of the weather we played a clinch format that didn't give a true sense of how close the match could have been. All of these tough matches I believe will help us in the end. We just have to continue to stay focused because there is still a lot of conference opportunities ahead."

UP NEXT:
The Dons will now return home for their first conference matchup in the City as they will welcome the Pepperdine Waves to Golden Gate Park on Monday morning with matches beginning at 11:00 a.m.
