Rams Outlast Dons in Fort Collins

FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- Back in action up over a mile high, the USF Dons women's tennis team (1-2) battled hard against a tough Colorado State Rams team (2-1) in the altitude before ultimately coming up short on the road Sunday afternoon by a 4-3 final score.

USF got off to a strong start on Sunday in the altitude as the duo of Simran Chhabra and Maria Martinez Vaquero picked up the 6-3 victory as the first doubles pairing before the Rams took the following two matches earning the team doubles point.

Singles play accounted for the three Dons' points on Sunday, as Maria Martinez Vaquero, Chiho Mushika and Hana Gamracy each picked up individual victories competing with USF. The Dons received tremendous contributions from the top of their lineup as both Martinez Vaquero and Mushika competed at the top two spots for USF against a quality opponent.
