Beach Volleyball Readies for Busy Weekend

Back on the road this weekend, the USF Dons beach volleyball team (0-13) will travel to Santa Cruz and compete at the 2023 WCC Challenge this Saturday and Sunday. The Dons will begin the tournament against Pepperdine Waves (8-3) on March 25 at 10:00 a.m. following with a match at noon against the Santa Clara Broncos (6-4). USF will then wrap up their time in Santa Cruz against a pair of to be determined opponents on March 26.

The Dons' time in the South Bay will extend into Monday as they will be competing against both the Stanford Cardinal and San José State Spartans from the Cardinal beach courts. It'll be the first matchup this season between USF and the Cardinal during the 2023 season, while the Dons will be looking for revenge against the Spartans after dropping a close 3-2 match down in San Jose.

Pepperdine was the runner-up team at the WCC Tournament last season and is currently ranked 17th according to the recent WCC preseason rankings. USF fell short against the Waves in their first meeting this season by a 5-0 final score in Malibu.

Santa Clara and the Dons have a competitive history as a pair of Bay Area rivals, as their last 10 matches against the Broncos are tied 5-5 with Santa Clara leading the all-time history between the two programs at 9-7 overall.

Last weekend against Oregon, USF was able to secure their lone point against the Ducks thanks to the Claire Crijns and Branson Lennon pairing who earned a hard fought victory down in San Jose.
