Women’s Tennis Returns to Action at Cal Winter Invitational

BERKELEY, Calif. – The University of San Francisco women's tennis team kicked off its 2024 season competing across the Bay at the Cal Winter Invitational on Friday, Jan. 11 and Sunday, Jan. 14 at the Hellman Tennis Complex and Channing Tennis Courts.

Over the two days of competition, the Dons earned two singles wins and three doubles wins as the green and gold faced tough opposition throughout the tournament.

RESULTS:
Day One Singles:
Makenna Koenig (USC) def. Julia Visaya (USF), 6-3, 6-0
Parker Fry (USC) def. Qianer Qiu (USF), 6-1, 6-0
Azaria Hayes (USF) def. Jamie Pope (SMC), 6-3, 5-7, 6-0

Day One Doubles:
Lan Mi/Tiziana-Marie Schomburg (CAL) def. Gamracy/Erin Richardson (USF), 6-3
Cami Brown/Makenna Thiel (CAL) def. Qiu/Visaya (USF), 6-4
Lan Mi/Tiziana-Marie Schomburg (Cal) def. Hayes/Alicia Yue (USF), 6-3

Day Two Singles:
Gamracy (USF) def. Tian Yu Dong (SMC), 6-3, 6-1
Juliette Daries (SMC) def. Visaya (USF), 6-4, 7-5
Eliza Bates (Cal Poly) def. Qiu (USF), 7-6(3), 6-2
Alexandra Ozerets (Cal Poly) def. Yue (USF), 3-6, 6-3, 6-3

Day Two Doubles:
Delanie Dunkle/Peyton Dunkle (Cal Poly) def. Richardson/Gamracy (USF), 6-3
Qiu/Visaya (USF) def. Romane Mosse/Eliza Bates (Cal Poly), 7-5
Yue/Hayes (USF) def. Eliza Bates/Sarah MacCallum (Cal Poly), 6-4

San Francisco returns to action on Thursday, Jan. 18, when it hosts Academy of Art at the Olympic Club.
