SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The University of San Francisco cross country program has officially announced the schedule for the upcoming 2024 season.
"We're looking forward to getting our season started with the 31st annual USF Invitational at Golden Gate Park," Assistant Coach
Steve Fuelling said. "Traveling to the Paul Short Invite will give us a great opportunity to race national level teams that are out of region. With the addition of Oregon State and Washington State to the already highly competitive WCC, we'll need to be at our best come November."
Following a successful 2023 season where the men's and women's programs earned top-five finishes at the West Coast Conference Championships at Alumni Park in Malibu, Calif, the Dons are set to return multiple essential contributors for the upcoming season.
Yasmine Abbes and
Nátalie Hluší return for the Dons on the women's side as they earned WCC All-Conference recognition after finishing in sixth and 11th place out of 82 competitors, respectively.
Highlighted by seven events throughout the campaign, San Francisco opens the season at the USF Invitational on Friday, Aug. 30, at Golden Gate Park. The Dons, hosting the meet for the 31st time, dominated in 2023 as the men's team placed third while the women finished in fifth.
The Dons continue the season with the Pacific Collegiate Invitational on Friday, Sept. 20, before traveling to the East Coast to compete in the Paul Short Run, hosted by Lehigh, on Saturday, Oct. 5.
Returning to Golden Gate Park to compete the following week, the green and gold participate in the SF State Invitational on Friday, Oct. 11. Wrapping up the regular season, the Dons will compete in the NCAA Pre-Nationals on Saturday, Oct. 19, the Bronco Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 19, and the Bay Area Invitational on Saturday, Nov. 9.
Postseason play begins on Saturday, Nov. 2, when the program competes in the West Coast Conference Championships in Lodi, Calif.
