Mission Invited to Compete in the Augusta National Women's Amateur

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Riana Mission of the University of San Francisco women's golf team has officially been invited to participate in the Augusta National Women's Amateur on Wednesday, April 2 – Saturday, April 5 at the historic Augusta National Golf Club, becoming the first golfer in program history to compete in the prestigious event.

"I am incredibly honored to be invited to the Augusta National Women's Amateur," Mission said. "To be able to play at Augusta is a rare opportunity, and as such, it has been one of my goals since its inception. Receiving this invitation, just like the pros do for the Masters, felt like a dream come true."

Chairman Fred Ridley announced the inaugural Augusta National Women's Amateur on April 14, 2018, during his annual press conference at the Masters Tournament. He established the event to inspire greater interest and participation in the women's game by creating a new, exciting, and rewarding pathway for these players to fulfill their dreams.

"Being selected for the Augusta National Women's Amateur is among the highest honors for a female amateur golfer," Head Coach Sara Doell said. "I know that making it to this tournament has been a dream of Riana's for many years, and I am extremely proud of her hard work, dedication, attitude, and mindset that has led her on a path to Augusta."

Mission is coming off an impressive 2024 fall season, achieving three top-10 finishes, including claiming shares of individual titles at the Leadership and Golf Invitational and The Molly. Her best overall score came at The Clash at Boulder Creek, shooting a 10-under-par 201 while guiding the Dons to a first-place team finish. The two-time NCAA Individual Qualifier also shot under par nine times while shooting under 70 six times.

The tournament's format will feature an international field of 72 women amateurs competing over 54 holes of stroke play. A cut will take place after 36 holes, advancing the leading 30 players and ties to the final round at Augusta National Golf Club. In a tie after 54 holes, the winner will be decided by sudden-death playoff.
