Dons Kick Off New Year at Whirlwind Invitational

CHANDLER, Ariz. - The University of San Francisco men's golf team began their fall season in the desert on Monday and Tuesday as the Dons tied for tenth overall at the Whirlwind Invitational at Whirlwind Golf Club at Wild Horse Pass.
TOURNAMENT RESULTS:
San Francisco will suit up next for the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate at The Championship Course at UNM in Albuquerque, N.M. on Friday, Sept. 19 and Saturday, Sept. 20. Live results will be available via the team's schedule page.

TOURNAMENT RESULTS:
- Renato Naula picked up where he left off last season as the senior was in the hunt after the first two rounds on day one. He started off the day by firing a 65 before shooting a 73 in his second round. Heading into Tuesday, Naula was tied for 12th at 6-under.
- Naula would go on to record another 73 in his final round to finish at 5-under-211 (65-73-73), which placed him in a tie for 24th on the individual leaderboard.
- Henry Styles played well after a successful summer as the sophomore finished 2-under-214 (72-72-70), good for 37th overall.
- William Svanström and Theo Anderson both made their debuts for San Francisco in the tournament, and both showed promising signs. Svanström tied for 44th overall at 2-over-218 (75-70-73) while Anderson tied for 64th at 8-over-224 (69-78-77). Notably, Anderson fired a 69 in his first collegiate round on Monday.
- Svante Palmgren rounded out the lineup by tying for 69th at 11-over-227 (77-75-75). Overall, San Francisco finished 2-under-862 (281, 290), 291) as a team to tie with Northern Colorado for tenth place.
