2015 Sand: Played with partner Courtney Sabahi for the season, going 9-13 from the Nos. 1 and 2 positions … posted straight-set victories over duos from San Jose State and Pacific … also earned wins against California, Cal Poly, Saint Mary’s and Santa Clara throughout the season … helped the team to an 8-9 overall record on the season, including a 3-0 mark at home.
2014 Indoor: Closed her career as one of the most prolific volleyball players in USF history … first Don to earn All-WCC First Team honors three times … finished with 1,195 career kills (7th), 427 total blocks (2nd), and 111 service aces (5th) in four years … recorded a single-match hitting record in USF’s sweep of Fordham on Aug. 30, with 13 kills and no errors on 14 attempts (.929) … tallied 351 kills (3.03 per set), 108 total blocks (1.09) and 31 service aces in her final year on the Hilltop … recorded a season-high 17 kills against Utah State on Sept. 12 … went off for 16 kills and 11 total blocks at San Diego on Oct. 4 … played in every set of the season … WCC All-Academic First Team.
2014 Sand: Paired up with Sara Staengle for the second-straight season, playing from the No. 1 position in the USF lineup ... the duo finished the year with a 5-5 mark and wins over competitors from Cal, Sacramento State, Cal Poly, San Jose State and Stanford ... each victory was in straight sets.
2013 Indoor: Led the Dons with a .341 hitting percentage, the third highest hitting percentage in the WCC … also led the Dons with 107 blocks and 28 aces … finished second on the squad with 304 kills … posted a team-high of 396.5 points on the year to earn a spot on the All-WCC first team … made the All-Academic squad for the second straight season… earned all-tournament distinction at the Aztec Invitational.
2013 Sand: Finished with a 4-4 record out of the No. 1 spot alongside partner Sara Staengle ... posted 95 kills, 72 digs, 20 service aces and a .365 attack percentage on the season ... recorded a season-high .667 attack percentage at Sacramento State on March 22, with 21 attacks, 14 kills and no errors ... had four double-double outings, including a season-high 20 kills and 16 digs against Pacific on April 7 ... taliied a season-high 20 digs to go along with 17 kills in a 2-1 come-from-behind victory that clinched the team win at Cal ... finished with a season-high eight service aces against the Bears on April 5.
2012 Indoor: Named a Capital One Academic All-District performer in the classroom, announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA)…earned 1st Team All-WCC Volleyball honors…earned WCC All-Academic Squad honors…led the team in blocks with 78, averaging 0.73 per set (16th best in the West Coast Conference)…her .325 hitting percentage ranked ninth in the WCC…had 261 kills, averaging 2.44 per set (20th in the WCC)…two best performances in kills-aces-digs-blocks came at Santa Clara on Nov. 8, and versus Pepperdine on Nov. 10, where she finished with 15-3-4-9 and 18-0-11-6 respectively.
2011 Indoor: Ranked sixth in the WCC with 1.06 blocks per set… led team with 277 kills, 373.5 points, and 24 solo blocks… recorded season-high 16 kills against Arizona on Aug. 27, season-high 22 points against Wichita State on Aug. 29, and season-high three solo blocks against Saint Mary’s on Oct. 20… tallied 15 kills on .520 hitting with seven blocks (two solo) in 3-1 victory at Saint Mary’s Sept. 24… was only Don to play in all 108 sets of the season… five ace performance against Wichita State on Aug. 28, ranked as second highest ace total in a 5-set match in the entire WCC… averaged 3.46 points per set, tops on the team… 2.56 kills per set ranked second on the team… placed third on the team with .276 attack percentage… one of only three Dons to start in all 29 matches… earned all-tournament honors at the UNLV Classic.
Prep/Club Career: Was a three-year member of the Slovenian junior and senior national teams… her junior national team finished eighth at the European Championships in 2010… played club volleyball for Ok Calcit Kamnik, which finished second in the Slovenian Champion’s League and second at the Slovenia Cup… also played four years of high school volleyball for I. Gimnazija v Celju located in Celje, Slovenia… high school team won the Slovenian high school championship during her senior season.
Personal: Valentina Zaloznik… parents are Jozica and Vinko Zaloznik… born in April of 1992… career goal at USF is to graduate and to help the volleyball team win… chose USF because of its location and how much she likes the area… favorite saying is, “live it, love it, play it…volleyball”… interests include listening to music and spending time with friends… has a younger brother Filip… major is undecided.
