The mission of the University of San Francisco (USF) Sports Medicine department is to deliver the highest level of care to the student-athletes at USF by utilizing the most advanced research-based modalities, rehabilitation, and evaluation techniques available in the realm of sports medicine. Every effort will be made to ensure an optimum state of physical and emotional health, preparing each athlete to excel in the collegiate sports arena. We strive to become a recognized authority in clinical athletic training techniques and education through a variety of multimedia outlets, promoting the University and its Athletic Training staff.

The USF Sports Medicine staff includes seven full-time athletic trainers. The staff works closely with five team physicians who stem from diverse sports medicine backgrounds allowing the student-athletes to receive the highest quality care in San Francisco.  Our physicians are associated with organizations including San Francisco Orthopedic Surgeons, the San Francisco Giants, Savant Medical Group, Orthopedics, Podiatry, Injury, & Sports Medicine Center at Kaiser Permanente, and the Division of Sports Medicine at the University of California San Francisco.

In addition to the team physicians, this department utilizes a multitude of resources to encompass a holistic approach to Sports Medicine. At USF, the student-athletes have access to chiropractors, physical therapists, massage therapists, active release technique, mental performance training, and nutrition counseling.
