Playing Season:
Every year, each USF head coach (or his or her designee) must submit to the Compliance Office the appropriate form detailing the team’s competitions and declared playing season. The declaration form must be submitted before the beginning of the sport’s playing season or the first day of the academic year (whichever is earlier) unless otherwise noted on the form.  The appropriate sport-specific forms are available in the Compliance Office. Additionally, the Compliance Office must be notified in writing of and approve any changes to the declared playing season after the original submission.

Occasional Meals:
NCAA legislation allows coaches to provide occasional meals to student-athletes under certain circumstances.  Such meals are allowed only on “infrequent and special occasions” and must be held in USF’s “locale.” Coaches are allowed to provide reasonable local transportation to the occasional meals. To track meals across sports and to ensure compliance with NCAA legislation, USF coaches are required to submit an Occasional Meal Approval form (Available in JumpForward or the compliance office) and receive approval from the Compliance Office before hosting an occasional meal. Coaches are asked to submit their requests at least 24 hours before their proposed meals.

Local Sports Clubs:
NCAA legislation limits USF coach involvement with non-USF teams that include prospective student-athletes. Coaches are only permitted to be involved with non-USF teams (also known as local sports clubs under NCAA legislation) if all prospects in the club reside within 50 miles of USF. Coaches must obtain approval from the Compliance Office (by completing the appropriate form available in JumprForward or the compliance office) before participating in any manner (coach, administrator, owner) with a local club sports club team or any other non-USF team. Note additional restrictions apply to basketball and volleyball as follows:

Basketball: Staff members may only be involved in local sports clubs for sports other than basketball.

Women's Volleyball: A USF coach may not coach a local sports club in competition during a dead or quiet period if prospects are present. Practice is still permitted.
