Gina Kehr

Gina Kehr was appointed as the inaugural head coach of the University of San Francisco triathlon program in 2019, bringing over 20 years of elite experience as both a professional athlete and coach.

Women's triathlon became the 15th varsity sport at USF and is part of a select group of Division I institutions offering the sport, joining prestigious programs such as Arizona State, the University of Arizona, and Texas Christian University.

Kehr comes to the Hilltop after spending a decade leading and developing the Stanford club triathlon program. Simultaneously, she founded Affinity Multisport, a coaching business dedicated to providing personalized training for professional and aspiring triathletes.

Since its inception in 2019, USF’s triathlon program has experienced remarkable growth under Kehr’s leadership. The team debuted at the national championship with just three athletes, finishing last in the Division I category. However, through strategic recruiting and development, Kehr brought in top-tier talent from around the world. In 2021, USF crowned the individual national champion and secured the team runner-up title. Since then, USF triathlon has consistently delivered podium finishes at both regional and national championships

Kehr began her professional triathlon career in 1998 and raced professionally from 1998 to 2009, her experience ranges from International Triathlon Union (known today as World Triathlon) racing where she finished eighth overall at the 2000 Olympic Trials to Ironman racing where she competed at the World Championships in Kona, Hawaii 10 times.  Her 4th place finish in 2006 is part of her long resume marking her as one of the top US females with the most top-10 overall finishes at the Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii.

Kehr was a collegiate swimmer at both SF State and Cal Poly SLO where she was a four-time Division II All-American.  She was inducted into the SF State Hall of Fame in 2001.  She has her CRPEMC as well as her USA Triathlon Level I and USA Triathlon Youth & Junior certifications.
