SAN FRANCISCO – Entering his 20th year as head coach, Nino Giarratano is pleased to announce the signing of Breck Eichelberger (Snow Canyon/St. George, Utah), Harris Williams (Denver North/Denver, Colo.), Kasey Koppelmaa (Chatfield/Littleton, Colo.) and Matthew Mendibles (Yavapai College/Prescott Valley, Ariz.) to a National Letter of Intent to attend the University of San Francisco for the 2018-19 year.
In case you missed last week's release, we highlighted Denver North High School's Harris Williams. This week we take a closer look at Kasey Koppelmaa from Chatfield High School in Littleton, Colo. During 2017, Koppelmaa boasted a .367 batting average over 60-plate appearances, including two homeruns, two triples and seven RBIs.
"Kasey Kopplema is a wonderful addition to the USF family. Kasey is a great athlete that will be able to compete for a starting job in our rotation," added Giarratano. "Kasey has a wipeout breaking ball with a good moving fastball. We are very excited about Kasey's work in the classroom and character as a student/ athlete. We would like to welcome the Kopplemaa family to the Hilltop."
"Kasey Koppelmaa is a great competitor that truly thrives on competing against the best," said Colorado Slammer head coach Billy Martin. "Kasey is a terrific teammate that is fantastic in the club house. Kasey is a very hard worker and an exceptional young man."
"I loved coaching Kasey "Kopp" Koppelmaa over the last three years. Kopp is extremely dedicated to excellence as a student-athlete," said Chatfield High School head coach Matt Johnson. "He demonstrates this by leading others and setting the example as a role model with his effort and intensity in the classroom and also on the playing field."
