Benedetti Diamond

Benedetti Diamond is the baseball field home for the only Division I team in the city of San Francisco. Its name is in honor of Dante Benedetti, the head coach of Dons baseball team from 1962 to 1980. In his time as head coach, he led the program to 373 wins and has since been inducted into the university's hall of fame. The field, originally named Max Ulich Field after a donor who funded the building of the stadium, was then renamed in 1980 to Benedetti Diamond in honor of the 29 years Dante Benedetti served the program. Benedetti passed away in November of 2005, but his legacy lives on in the home of the Dons baseball program for which he played such a pivotal role in laying the foundation.

In 2015 the field underwent a major $6 million renovation to create a new and improved field for the Dons baseball program. The field itself is made of an AstroTurf Diamond Series 3D synthetic turf playing surface and a health- and eco-conscious Greenplay organic infill made of a mixture of sand, ground cork and coconut husks, and other natural fibers that is 100% recyclable
material. Benedetti Diamond is the first NCAA Division I baseball facility to feature the Greenplay organic infill.

As for seating in the stadium, there is a wrap-around deck alongside the baseline for fans to enjoy the view of the ballpark. There are two grass berms at first base netting and the third base netting for people to sit at and watch the game from. The seats in the bleachers around the bases include 150 reserved seat back chairs. Behind home plate there are six tables each with four
chairs available to be reserved for an incredible view of the whole park. In the renovation, the field itself was lowered 18 inches to allow spectators a more enhanced vision of the field from their seats.
