SAN FRANCSICO – Propelled by its best shooting of the season and a 26-point outing by senior guard Mel Khlok, the San Francisco women's basketball team picked up a 75-61 win over Boise State on Saturday at War Memorial Gym.

Khlok, a native of Sacramento, Calif., poured in a smooth six three-pointers in the contest, allowing for an inside-out attack to spur the offense to 44.8 percent shooting for the game. USF (3-2) gashed the Broncos for 32 points in the paint to go along with Khlok's career-tying outing from beyond the arc. Her 18 points from long range put her at one shot shy of tying the school record for made three-point baskets in a game.

“I don't care about records,” Khlok said with a shake after the contest, “I care about wins. And we got one today.”

The Dons leapt out to the lead from the get-go, racing to a 10-0 advantage before a three-pointer by Brandi Henton put the Broncos on the board. As Boise State (3-2) struggled to find its shot, the Dons continued to capitalize on the offensive glass when Taylor Proctor's putback layup gave USF a 25-5 lead midway through the first half.  Boise State would cut the lead to nine by halftime, but the damage was already done.

The Broncos cut the lead to five points when Lauren Lenhardt muscled for the layup with 15:06 to play and the score at 43-38, and that would prove to be the closest point of the game since the opening minutes. The Dons answered with another triple off the hot hand of Khlok, her sixth of the game, and pushed the lead back to double-digits when Zhané Dikes scooped up the steal and fast break layup with 13:03 to play.

Boise State had one more run in the tank when a Lenhardt bucket narrowed the gap to 60-54 with 5:30 remaining. When the Broncos started fouling two minutes later, the Dons took care of business at the line, hitting 9-of-11 from the line in the closing moments to seal the 75-61 victory.

“I was telling the team the night we lost to Fordham, I looked up some Ray Lewis inspirational speeches and they kind of helped me find myself and try to get the team back together because the last game we did not play together,” Khlok said. “[Aundrea Gordon] and I knew that we had to find it in ourselves to help lead our team. Tonight … it kind of fell together. We played together as a team, and when we play together, it's tough [to be beat].”

Khlok was helped on offense by Gordon's 13 points on 6-of-9 shooting and 12 points by Dikes. Gordon and Khlok combined for nine assists and tied the total number of helpers credited to Boise State in the game. USF outrebounded the Broncos 41 to 37 as Proctor paved the way with seven boards for the Dons. Boise State's sole double-digit scorer was Lenhardt, who finished with 19 points, but also led the Broncos with six turnovers in the loss.

USF's next test comes as it travels to Sacramento State for a Wednesday contest at 7 p.m.
