Final Round Results
SEASIDE, Calif. -- USF's men's golf team shot a final round 301 to finish tied for sixth at the Saint Mary's Invitational, which was held on the Bayonet and Black Horse Courses in Seaside.
With a 54-hole score of 890 (+26), USF tied with Fresno State, 36 strokes behind first place California, which claimed the team title with a 10-under score of 854.
Oregon finished second at 884 (+20), followed by San Diego (886), St. John's and Saint Mary's (889).
San Diego's Grant Forrest earned medalist honors with a seven-under score of 209, one stroke better than Cal's Michael Weaver, who finished at 210 after three consecutive rounds of 70. Brandon Hagy of Cal finished third at 211 (-5).
USF's Cory McElyea and Sebastian Crookall-Nixon both finished in the top-10 for the second consecutive tournament.
McElyea shot an even par-72 on the Bayonet Course to finish 1-under for the tournament. The senior was 1-over at the turn but back-to-back birdies on 10 and 11 moved him back to 1-under on the day. He made three bogeys and two birdies over the last five holes to finish with an even par score of 72.
Crookall-Nixon tied for eighth at 218 (+2) after shooting a final round 76. His lone birdie on the day came on the par-5 10th hole.
Jobim Carlos tied for 52nd at 228 (+12) after carding a 77 on Tuesday.
Senior Alika Bell shot a final round 76 and tied for 55th at 229 (+13), while freshman Max Alcorn tied for 82nd at 235 after shooting a final round 78.
USF will return to action on Oct. 14-15 at the Alister Mackenzie Invitational, which will be held this year at the Sonoma Golf Club.
