STANFORD, Calif. -- Sophomore Clare Sorensen shot a final round 77 on Sunday to tie for 17th at the Peg Barnard Invitational at Stanford Golf Course.
Sorensen, who began the day tied for 11th after carding a 1-over 72 on Saturday, opened her final round with four straight bogeys but picked up birdies on holes 7, 8 and 11 for a 6-over 77.
She finished 12 strokes behind medalist Dana Finkelstein of UNLV, who backed up her opening round 69 with a 68 on Sunday to finish at 5-under 137. Finkelstein finished two strokes clear of Stanford teammates Casey Danielson and Lauren Kim, who finished at 139 (-3).
Stanford easily claimed the team title with a 2-over 570, good for a 16 stroke victory over UC Davis.
Ayaka Suzuki turned in USF's lowest round of the day on Sunday, carding a 3-over 74 to tie for 21st place at 150 (+8).
Senior Peppiina Kaija tied for 60th at 157 (+15) after a final round 77.
Freshman Alison Lillie turned in her second consecutive score of 79 and tied for 63rd at 158 (+16).
Senior Victoria House, playing as an individual, put together rounds of 80 and 81 to finished 67th at 161.
Sophomore Emelie Lundstrom shot a final round 82 and tied for 70th at 163 (+21).
USF will return to action on Feb. 23 as the Dons join the field at the Anteater Invitational, scheduled for the Santa Ana Country Club.
