Women's Tennis Nets 6-1 Victory over Nevada

PROVO, Utah – Playing a neutral court match, San Francisco women's tennis dispatched Nevada 6-1 at the Indoor Tennis Courts on the campus of BYU Friday.
With the win, USF improves to 8-3 on the season heading into its first West Coast Conference match. Nevada stands at 5-5 on the season after dropping its last four straight.
The Dons took the doubles points after soundly defeating the Nos. 2 and 3 duos from the Wolfpack. The tandem of Milica Hadzi-Tanovic and Brooke Irish cruised to an 8-1 victory to remain unbeaten from the No. 3 position in the lineup. Andrea Ka and Marina Nikolic continued their roll through the No. 2 spot, improving to 7-4 on the season after handling Juliette Legendre and Sheila Smiley, 8-3, to earn the doubles point for USF.
In singles action, the Wolfpack netters stretched the middle courts the three sets. USF's trio of Sofia Holmberg, Nikolic and Hadzi-Tanovic regrouped for third-set victories from the Nos. 3, 4, and 5 positions as USF rolled. Nikolic's win was her 15th of the season, including fall action.
The Dons also picked up points from Irish and Ka on the day to close with the 6-1 victory. Playing from the No. 1 position, Ka's opponent Michelle Okhremchuk dropped the first set 6-4 before retiring to give the sophomore from Paris, France, her fourth-straight win and a 1-0 record from USF's top singles spot.
Tomorrow, the Dons open conference action against BYU at 11 a.m. PT, from the Cougars' Indoor Tennis Courts.
