The day began with doubles play, where the 49ers earned easy wins to secure the doubles point. At No. 2 doubles, Genevieve McCloskey and Shanna Dos Santos took on Maeva Razakasoa and Julie Gerard, with Long Beach State winning 6-0. The Dons had a shot to pull even in doubles, but Sofia Holmberg and Jiayu Mu lost to Ebba Unden and Georgie Sanders, 6-2.

During the first singles match at No. 5, Holmberg was forced to retire and Laura Eales picked up the win. The Dons desperately needed a win to keep the 49ers from taking a 3-0 lead, but Hayley Thompson beat Dos Santos 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4. The Beach continued to play solid tennis, as Sanders defeated Mu 6-0, 6-1 in the No. 3 match. Playing in her first match at No. 3 singles in 2016, McCloskey held her own against Gerard, but lost 6-3, 6-3.

With the Dons trailing 5-0, Ka proved why she was a Preseason All-WCC selection. The senior took the first set against Razakasoa 6-2, but lost 2-6 in the next set. In the tiebreaker, Ka won 10-4 to pick up her third dual match singles win of the year.

In the final singles match of the day at the No. 2 spot, Thyra Taune went down early against Unden, losing 6-2 in the first set. However, the Don battled back, with a 7-6(4) win in the second set to even things up. During the final set, Unden picked up the victory with a 10-4 win.

The Dons will finish off their road trip with a match against UC Irvine on Sunday at 11 a.m.
