USF Falls at Stanford, 4-0

STANFORD, Calif. -- USF's men's tennis team came out on the shortend of a 4-0 decision to Stanford this afternoon in a match held at the Taube Family Tennis Center.
The Cardinal posted two wins to claim the doubles points and then closed out the match with three singles victories on courts 2, 5 and 6 to drop USF to 4-17 on the season.
The team of Trey Strobel and Anthony Tsodikov downed the USF tandem of Jason Lee and Woravin Kumthonkittikul, 6-2 to set up teammates Yale Goldberg and Sameer Kumar, who clinched the doubles point with a 6-3 win over Christian Brockstedt and Thomas Takemoto. The doubles match on court No. 1 between Nils Skajaa and Vasco Valverde and Stanford's Tom Fawecett and Maciek Romanowicz was suspended with the Cardinal dou leading 5-3.
Fawcett got the Cardinal off to a fast start in singles play with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Skajaa on court No. 1. Brandon Sutter then gave the Cardinal a 3-0 lead with a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Jerod Mah on court No. 1. Romanowicz then clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Kumthongkittikul.
USF will return to action on Saturday when the Dons host WCC rival Santa Clara at the Cal Club beginning at 1:00 p.m. USF's seniors will be honored before the match.
