USF Falls to San Diego, 6-0

SAN FRANCISCO -- The 29th-ranked San Diego Toreros posted a 6-0 victory over USF this afternoon in a match that was moved to the indoor courts at the Broadway Tennis Center due to the threat of rain in the Bay Area.
Due to time constraints, the doubles matches were cancelled, leaving the match to be decided by the six singles' contests.
Five of the six matches were decided in straight sets as the Toreros (16-7, 4-0 WCC) rolled to their 22nd consecutive West Coast Conference victory,
Uros Petronijevic, ranked 49th in the lastest collegiate singles rankings, gave the Toreros a 1-0 lead with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Nils Skajaa on court No. 1.
Alex Araouzos then followed with a 7-5, 6-1 victory over Christian Brockstedt at the No. 5 position to give the Toreros a 2-0 lead in the match,
San Diego extended its lead to 3-0 after Romain Kalaydjian downed Thomas Takemoto, 6-4, 6-4 on court No. 4.
Ryan Marker posted a 6-4 first set victory over San Diego's Jordan Argus at the No. 2 position before the nation's 63rd-ranked player won sets two and three, 6-1, 6-2 to clinch the match for the Toreros.
Jaan Kononov downed Vasco Valverde, 6-4, 7-6 (5) on court No. 3 while San Diego's Joshua Page won a hard-fought over Woravin Kumthonkittikul, 6-7 (3), 7-5, 10-5.
USF (4-15, 1-4 WCC) will return to action tomorrow when the Dons host the BYU Cougars at the California Tennis Club beginning at 1:00 p.m. There is a possibility the match will be moved to the Broadway Tennis Center at 3:00 p.m. depending on the weather,
