Welcome to the Hilltop Jamaree

Jamaree Bouyea, a 6-2, 155 lb. guard from Salinas, Calif. who attended Palma High School, has signed a national letter of intent to play basketball at the University of San Francisco.

Bouyea, who averaged 19.0 points, 8.1 rebounds and 6.1 assists as a senior, was named the Monterey Bay League's (Gabilan Division) Most Valuable Player and the Monterey Herald's All-County Basketball Player of the Year as a junior and senior. As a junior in 2015-16, Palma advanced to the CIF Division IV championship game, becoming the first school from Monterey County to play for a state title in 23 years. This past season, Palma earned the top-seed in the NorCal Division IV playoffs but fell to eventual state champion St. Patrick-St. Vincent of Vallejo in the title game. During his three year varsity career under head coach Kelly Lopez, Palma compiled a 74-16 (.822) record and went undefeated in league play (36-0).

"Jamaree is a lead guard that fits with our two guard system," said USF head coach Kyle Smith. "He is another six tool player who can dribble, drive, pass, shoot, defend, and rebound. He adds length, quickness, skill and a sense for the game to our backcourt.

"He is young for his class and will need to mature physically to compete at the highest levels, and we are confident he will put in the necessary work to reach that level.  He comes from a strong program at Palma High School which has produced talent that has excelled in the WCC."

Bouyea will join Souley Boum, a 6-3 combo guard from Oakland Tech; Erik Poulsen, a 6-11 center from Santa Rosa Junior College; and Taavi Jurkatamm, a 6-9, 210 lb. forward from Tallinn, Estonia, as newcomers on next year's roster.
