SAN FRANCISCO – On Friday afternoon the University of San Francisco men's and women's basketball teams officially moved into their new homes. Thanks to a donor funded project the Dons will prepare for their competition in a state of the art locker rooms and team space.
"The new men's and women's basketball locker rooms are on par with the best in the WCC and our competition nationally," said Director of Athletics
Scott Sidwell. "We compete daily in recruiting and this is a huge statement that USF is committed to winning at the highest level. The donors that made these locker rooms a reality with their contributions have helped elevate the expectations for our basketball programs. This is another step in our climb to Higher Ground."
The project for the locker room renovation began earlier this summer and was completed Wednesday morning, just in time for the 2018-19 season.
"The commitment to our program and the generosity of our basketball donors means the world to us," said men's basketball's senior guard
Frankie Ferrari. "By donating to this locker room project, our fan base is saying they are committing to us and to helping us win. Every athlete wants an opportunity to compete for championships and our upgraded locker rooms will go a long way in helping us compete."
Added women's basketball senior guard
Shannon Powell, "It is in an incredibly exciting time to be a student-athlete on the Hilltop. Donor supported projects like the locker room mean the world to us, the level of support we feel pushes us to go harder in practices and games. We look forward to celebrating the next WCC championship in our new home."
