Dons in Hunt After Second Round, With Two in the Top-10

STOCKTON, Calif. – After shooting six under par to open the tournament on Thursday the University of San Francisco men's golf team did even better on Friday, finishing the second round with an 8-under 276. After 36 holes, the Dons are currently in fourth with a 14-under 554 with two Dons in the top-10.
In a leaderboard loaded at the top, the Dons are currently four back the leaders BYU who have a team score of 18-under 550. In second is Nevada followed by San Jose State. Three USF players finished the second round under par today, with the Dons collecting 23 birdies on the day. For the tournament USF has 40 birdies which is tied for fourth.
After 36 holes, Soren Lind is the Dons leader. Lind is currently tied for seventh with a 5-under 137 (70-67). On Friday Lind opened the tournament with a mistake free front-9 going 1-under at the turn, he opened the back-9 with birdies on 10 and 11. A bogey on 14, his lone bogey of the round, was followed up by birdies on 16 and 18 to finish the round 4-under. Lind's five birdies on the day gives him 10 for the tournament which is tied for third.
Thanks to a spectacular second round, Tim Widing moved up 35 spots on the leaderboard to crack the top-10 with a 5-under 66. After 36 holes, Widing boasts a 4-under 138 (72-66). Widing opened the round with a birdie on two, he finished the front-9 with minus one. On the back-9 he was 4-under.
Toby Briggs is tied for 18th after 36 holes. He finished his second round with a 2-over 73. After 36 holes he boasts a 2-under 140 (67-73). In fourth for the Dons is Christoffer Palsson who finished the day with a 2-over 73 as well. For the tournament he is even par with a 142 (69-73). Alex Chin moves up the leaderboard and is currently 1-over after 36 holes after finishing the second round with a 1-under 70.
COACH'S QUOTE:
"Today was a good fight," said head coach Jack Kennedy. "We played a little flat on the front nine but really responded with a great back nine. It was nice to see Tim get rolling and Alex gave us a great round. We are in position to win tomorrow and we are excited for the opportunity."
