SAN FRANCISCO — The San Francisco women's basketball team will welcome another successful international player into the fold in 2019-20, as the Dons have signed multi-time European Championships and Junior Olympics participant Johanna Teder, a point guard out of Tartu, Estonia, to a National Letter of Intent.

Teder has been one of the best basketball players in her country of Estonia her entire career. Just Saturday, she started her first official game for the Estonian Senior National Team in the Eurobasket Qualifiers. The game was against Belarus, a top-10-ranked team in the world, where she scored four points and had four assists in 21 minutes.

Johanna TederTeder represented Estonia in October at the FIBA 3x3 Tournament during the Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She has played for every youth national team in Estonia growing up.
She was part of Estonia's U16 and U18 teams at the European Championships, leading both teams in assists as the starting point guard.

"We are excited to sign Johanna," said San Francisco Head Coach Molly Goodenbour. "She brings toughness, leadership and a strong work ethic to our program and we are looking forward to getting her on campus to work with her."

She's earned two bronze medals in the Estonian Women's League. For the last two seasons she has played for the G4S Noorteliiga club, where she's seen increases in points, rebounds, assists and steals per game over the past two years. This past season she averaged 8.8 points, 3.8 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 4.7 steals per contest. She started her club career in 2015-16 with her hometown club of Tartu Ülikool/Kalev. There, she averaged 11.3 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 2.5 steals per game.

Teder will join a USF roster that already includes nine international players from seven different countries. Her arrival will make 10 players from eight countries, including Estonia neighbors Finland (Kia Vaalavirta) and Latvia (Marianna Klavina).
