SAN FRANCISCO – The University of San Francisco men's golf team begins its spring season this week when the Dons travel to Rancho Santa Fe, Calif., to participate in the USD Intercollegiate, hosted by San Diego at the Farms Golf Club.
Head golf coach Jack Kennedy is going with the lineup of Tim Widing, Soren Lind, Toby Briggs, Alex Chin, and Henry Chung. The Dons used this lineup once in the fall, with USF taking fifth out of 18 teams at the Saint Mary's Invitational.
The Dons will be going with a young group, comprised of three freshmen and a sophomore in Briggs, Chin, Lind and Widing. But they are far from inexperienced.
Lind competed in all four fall tournaments and posted two top-10 finishes. To his credit, Briggs also has a top-10 finish when he finished tied for sixth at the Nick Watney Invitational. Widing, a 2017 All-WCC First Team honoree, is leading the Dons an average score of 71.1 this season.
The Dons will be one of 12 teams in the tournament. Joining them will be tournament host San Diego, as well as UCLA, New Mexico State, UC Riverside, Seattle, Cal Poly, Sacramento State, Wichita State, San Diego State, Idaho, as well as WCC foe Santa Clara.
