THE RUNDOWN
SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - The University of San Francisco women's beach volleyball team was taken down by San Jose State, 2-3, Friday afternoon. The Dons will have a quick turn around and another opportunity to get a win this week as they play Pacific in Stockton, Calif. on Saturday.
The Dons are now 2-7. The Dons gave a great fight against the Trojans (7-9), taking two flights. Twos pairs Haley Howell and Carly Lowry and fours pairs Camille Araujo each swept in their match ups. USF's Sabrina Blackwell and Nora Buvarp-Lavik forced a deciding set in the 3s slot, but could not close it out.
THOUGHTS FROM FRANCISCO
Head Coach Frank Lavrisha: "We were very competitive today, putting ourselves in a position to win the match. The 3 the 4 pairings that we refigured showed well, with Camille and Erica winning in two at 4s and Nora and Sabrina dropping a tough match in three at the 3s. Haley and Carly had a convincing win at the 2s. We head into our match with Pacific tomorrow with the confidence from a well played match today."
