MTN | Dons Drop Match Against Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. -- The University of San Francisco men's tennis team faced Portland at the Louisiana Pacific Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon. The Dons dropped the match 0-4 and are now 6-12 in the season.
Doubles began with a 2-6 match from Paul Giraud and Marco Barretto, but Mert Zincirli and Oliver Poysti came back for the Dons, winning their match 6-3. The doubles point however went to the Pilots after Johan Joenhagen and Ryan Marker fell 4-6.
Zincirli started singles with a dropped match of 3-6, 2-6 and Joenhagen fell in his match 1-6, 5-7. Poysti begin with a 7-5 set win and brought his match into a tiebreaker set, but ultimately fell 2-6, 2-6 and the rest of singles went unfinished.

"Portland did a good job staying focused and consistent in its competitive fight against my guys. We need to do better and will need to regroup for our next conference play. I know my guys are very upset with the weekend, but are ready to bounce back." — head coach Pablo Pires de Almeida.
