Seventh year head coach Jim Millinder is pleased to announce the addition of what he believes is the best class he's brought to the Hilltop. Today let's meet Jaeden Tamayo.
COACHES QUOTE
Jaeden Tamayo is a 5-6 center back from nearby San Jose, Calif. Tamayo prepped at Willow Glen High School and played for the San Jose Earthquakes Girls Development Academy. While at Willow Glen she was a two-time letter winner for the Rams playing for coaches Clint Copeland and Fabian Garza. She competed for the track and field team at Willow Glen.
In her sophomore campaign she was named the 2016 sophomore of the year. In her junior season she was named the MaxPreps player of the Game on January 2 after scoring a pair of goals against Milpitas High School.
When not competing for Willow Glen, Tamayo competed on the club scene for several years. She was a member of the Central Valley Crossfire Red from 2013-17 before moving on to play for the San Jose Earthquakes Girls Development Academy. When she signed her letter of intent, she became the first female athlete to sign an NLI at Avaya Stadium.
Tamayo chose USF because of its small campus, she felt that it would be more intimate and she would succeed here academically. She plans on majoring in politics and sociology with an emphasis in law, where she hopes to become a civil rights attorney after graduating and helping those who are underrepresented.
Her hobbies including singing, baking, dancing and music. If she wasn't playing sports she would "be an artist of some sort." Her hero is her mother, her favorite book is The Great Gatsby, her favorite movie is Finding Nemo and she says Bob's Burgers is her favorite shot.
