SAN FRANCISCO -- Phuc Huynh, tennis player from Honolulu, who attended Iolani High School, has signed a national letter of intent to play tennis at the University of San Francisco.

Huynh is currently the top Hawaiian player and is top-60 in the nation in his class. Freshman year, Huynh was Hawaii State Singles Champion and followed the next year with a Doubles Champion title. This past season, Huynh earned a Winter Sectional win in singles and has lead his team to an overall record of 14-0.

"Phuc's game will surprise a lot of people on The Hilltop," said former Don Torin Ching. "He's a very disciplined and motivated young man. I've had the honor and privilege of watching him grow on and off of the tennis court. Phuc will transition well into both college athletics and academics coming from Iolani High School and by competing in a tough West Coast Conference, Phuc's game will only sky rocket.

"Phuc will now join a select group of Hawaii-born tennis players — Kalama Kim, David Lam, Torin Ching — that have had the opportunity to wear the green and gold that both proudly represent the Hawaiian Islands and USF."

"I am so honored that Phuc and his family chose to join our program," said head coach Pablo Pires de Almeida. "Phuc will be an impact player for us in singles and doubles. His game has a lot of room to grow and he has shown that he can come through in big matches. He comes from a hard working family who has brought him up with strong standards and a humble but confident mindset. He will be a great addition to our Dons family."
