It probably comes as no surprise that the man synonymous with the center position, who also owns more rings than fingers to wear them, garnered 72 percent of the votes. Bill Russell received an overwhelming portion of the votes in the first of five segments where you the fans pick our all-time men's basketball roster.
Russell, the backbone behind the Dons' back-to-back National Championships in 1955 and '56 took home 72.06 percent of the total votes.
Ollie Johnson garnered the second most votes with 13.24 percent, followed by legendary Don Bill Cartwright, who took home 11.76 percent of the votes. The three USF icons and hall of famers will be added to the Dons All-Time Roster, with Russell getting the starting nod.
Pete Cross and "Other" each received 1.47 percent each for the remainder of the votes.
On Friday, we will release the second position, power forwards, fans will once again be asked to pick their top-three choices with the most votes earning the starting position.
