SAN FRANCISCO — The University of San Francisco women's soccer team (6-3-0) dominated in all facets of the match, taking down Sacramento State (1-6-1), 5-0, under the Friday night lights at Negoesco Stadium.
Four of the five Dons shots were scored solely in the first half. At the 8th minute, Miciah Madison launched the ball across the box where she found Samantha Jehnings at the lower left post as she laid the ball in the goal, comfortably to lead the Dons 1-0.
At the 10th minute, Madison not only assisted the pass for the first goal of the match, but she scored the second goal of the game from Izzie Lueken's free kick that bounced off of the cross bar that landed right next to Madison's foot for the shot to extend the Dons lead, 2-0.
Just minutes later, the finesse duo Jehnings and Madison did it again for USF. Just when Madison broke away from her defender at the 16th mark, Jehnings sprinted down the field which turned the Dons offense into a 2-on-1. Madison faked the shot and dished it to Jehnings who easily got past the Hornets goalkeeper, leading 3-0.
It doesn't stop there for the Dons, at the 17th minute San Francisco's offensive presence was in control once again when Madison launched the ball towards the right side of the goal post where she found teammate Kalena Teufel that struck the ball at the top left side of the net to push the lead, 4-0.
Heading into the second half, the Hornets had three shot attempts that they could not execute. Right at the 68th mark, Cassidy Kaumeyer launched the ball from 20 yards out that flew past the goalkeeper's head to seal the win for San Francisco, 5-0.
